Don’t Let Your Cycling Medals End Up in a Drawer
A hundred miles in the saddle, a charity ride through the rain, a sportive that finished with a climb nobody warned you about. Cycling medals are earned the hard way, and most of them end up the same way: in a drawer, on a hook by the bike shed, or tangled in a bag with the old race numbers and a spare inner tube.
Why cycling medals disappear
Cyclists collect medals quickly. Sportives, charity rides, club events and long weekend challenges nearly all hand out a finisher’s medal, and keen riders can pick up several in a single season. Many are light and plain, with a short ribbon and the event name on the front, and nothing to say how far you rode, how long it took or how you felt at the top of the last hill.
That is the problem. Six months later nobody remembers which medal was the hundred-miler and which was the easy forty. A medal on its own doesn’t tell the story. It just sits in the pile, identical to the others, until it stops meaning anything at all.
Give it the context it deserves
A MyMedal box turns one cycling medal into a proper record of the ride. Instead of a nameless disc on a ribbon, you can add the event, the distance, your time, the date, or a line only you would write about that day. Each box carries up to five lines of your own text, 13 characters per line. The customiser shows a live preview and stops you at the limit, so you’ll see exactly how it will look before you order.. For example:
- Tom Davies / 100 Miles / 5h 42m / Sportive / Sep 2026
- Charity Ride / 62 Miles / Done it! / Aug 2026
Choose the cycling silhouette to match the ride, with male and female versions available, then pick your colour: Gold, Silver, Rose Gold or White. Order it with or without a medal and it arrives complete and ready to hang.
Each box is:
- 3D printed to order here in Great Britain, ready within 24 hours (shipping adds a little time on top)
- Lightweight at 56g, and fits any ribbon size, so it works for a heavy finisher’s medal or a slim charity ride one
- Fitted for damage-free wall mounting via a 3M Command strip, with an integrated nail slot if you’d rather use that
- Designed for indoor display, such as a hallway, home office or garage workshop wall, not anywhere exposed to weather or damp

One ride, or a growing wall
Some riders go straight for the one that mattered most: the first century, the charity ride for someone close, the event that took a whole winter of training. Others use MyMedal to mark every ride as it happens, building a wall of display boxes over the years, often alongside a framed race number or a printed route map for context.
Either way works. The point isn’t to display every medal you’ve ever picked up. It’s to stop the rides that actually mattered from disappearing into a drawer with all the rest.
If you haven't seen them yet, this page follows on from How to Display Non Sporting Achievements.
